Somewhat sad see current conditions. Educational institution are like printer engine is like no diploma. To be sold, partly to give the lure: pass quick, synchronized status, can a diploma, absent loose, etc.. What can be expected from dry educational idealism like that. Ki Hajar Dewantoro probably going to cry see the state of education today. It's no longer aimed at the intellectual life of the nation (as it is still written in the Constitution 43, bah!), But more like obsolete machines that emit a tough dependable product quality.
Education is more directed to prepare labor "workers" at this time. It's no longer a reliable thinkers who are ready to analyze the condition. Because the mindset of "labor" is, all kinds of memorizing crammed to the children of students. And everything just by one word: diploma! yes, certificates, diplomas, certificates are required to seek employment. Very minimal idealism to change the condition of the nation that this messy, very minimal to teach philosophy of life, and very minimal also in moral teaching.
What should be the essence of education? I agree with the intellectual life of the nation. But, it still must be translated again in the level of strategic / tactical. said mencerdsakan life of the nation has 3 components of the utmost importance: (1) smart (2) life (3) of the nation.
(1) of the smartSmart it means to have knowledge that can be used to solve real problems. Smart does not mean memorized all subjects, but then stunned when I had to create solutions for real life. Meaningful intelligent creative and innovative. Intelligent means ready to apply their knowledge.
(2) of livingLife is a blessing given by God at the same time of his examination. Life is a philosophy to appreciate life and do the best things to life itself. Life is meant contemplate that one day we will die, and all our deeds will be accountable to Him. Newsworthy note, that the bodies of the living do not necessarily have a living soul. It could be, someone is still alive but his life is dead conscience when he persecuted with snatainya others, to commit corruption, even when he was littering. Philosophy of life is very full of meaning of individualism, which means lifting a person's life, humanizing a man, give it food of the spirit of life, moral values and life goals.
(3) of the nationOther than an individual human being, he also is a social being. He is an important component of an organism of society. The figure of the great individual, but does not want anything to donate anything for the people, is not being taught religion and education. Each individual has an obligation to disseminate knowledge to the community, trying to increase the degree of glory surrounding community, and also play an active role in community dynamics. Who are the people in question here? I agree that the society in question is the nation's identity that characterize a society. The era of globalization is blurring national values, because everything was close. When the Iraq war for example, as if we could look at Iraq in the house. But the thing is, if we are able to actively contribute significantly to Iraq (in addition to prayer or action)? Active role we are required to surrounding communities ... and who the people around? none other than the individual compatriots.
